獲獎還是得報酬 (award 和reward)

 

◎award (獎) 和reward (報酬) 是很容易混淆的字。 

￭ award (獎) ：當動詞 指 '頒獎'，意思是經某官方單位決定後把獎品 (trophies或 prize) 或 獎金給予得獎人。
例句：
Ben won an award of Young Writer in 2010.
賓在2010年贏得年輕作家的獎。 

￭ reward (報酬) ：名詞指 給予在某事件努力有成或有貢獻的個人或群體的酬勞或獎賞，實體的 reward 大多屬金錢或物質方面的，偶而也可能是職場晉升或加薪等。 
例句：
The reward of Alan's hard work is a promotion to the management in the company.
阿倫辛苦工作的酬勞為他贏得晉升上公司的經理級。 

☆ 簡單的分別： award 是含有 '榮譽' 類的獎賞，通常是在公開場合頒獎 (例如 頒獎典禮或儀式等) ；而reward 則較傾向 '回報' 類的酬勞，通常在較不公開或私下的場合給獎 。
